EUDORA SPAM FILTER
Secret Keyword With Auto-Reply
"100% Spam Detection"
I don't currently use this filter, but show it here as an example of how it's done.
END FILTER:
You could place this filter at the very end of your filter list, and auto-reply with
a stationery message you've created that informs the sender of the failed message that you don't
accept email from unknown sources unless it contains your secret keyword in the body of the
message (and you should provide them with the keyword in the auto-reply). Any email passing
your spam filters and containing
the keyword would get past this filter and go to the inbox. Any email that fails this
filter would go to the trash or Spam box. The auto-reply feature will create a copy of the
outgoing rejection notice in your out.mbx, and you will get replies from many of the domains
of the spammers advising you that "no such user" exists... You can of course filter your copy
of the out-going rejection notice to the trash if you like, so you don't have to deal with it
manually, and you can also filter the incoming rejection emails into the trash as well if you
like...
Your keyword MUST be different from your logn name to work properly. Spammers already know
your login name and routinely greet you by it. I suggest using your first name as your secret keyword, unless it's the same as your
email login name. Spammers don't have a clue what your first name is if it's not your login
name, but all your friends and family will already know it. "Dear Cecil" goes straight
into my In.mbx, and "Dear cecilw" goes straight to the trash.

Outgoing Filter to Eliminate Out.mbx Copies from the Auto_Reply
Stationery
I used "Undeliverable Email" as the subject line of the stationery, and
transfer my outgoing copy of this message to the Trash.mbx.
One Filter, 100% Spam Detection
Heck, you could even carry this idea to an extreme, and have just this one filter
in Eudora looking for your special keyword or phrase, and trash every email that doesn't have
it. Forget the passlist filter, just make sure all your friends and family and other
correspondents know and use your secret keyword. Not a single spam would ever will get through
to your inbox, if you choose your keyword wisely... Optionally you could add the "Reply With"
auto-reply action and reply to all senders with a fixed stationery reply advising them that
you did not get their message and they must say the magic word to get into your inbox.
Your out.mbx will contain a copy of all outgoing auto replies, and you will get lots of
rejection notices from the alleged domains of spammers, advising you that your
auto-reply was addressed to "unknown user"... This filter is not really a practical
solution for most people, but is presented to show what is possible.
